What is sensitive skin?
Sensitive skin is not a specific skin disease — it's a state where skin reacts easily to external stimuli. New products cause stinging or redness, temperature changes trigger reactions, and fragrances or alcohol are irritating. The root cause is usually impaired skin barrier function.
Core Principle: Less is More
The more products you layer, the more ingredient interactions can cause irritation. Stick to 4 basic steps: cleanser, essence, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Introduce new products one at a time, two weeks apart.
Ingredients to Avoid
- Synthetic fragrance (Fragrance/Parfum)
- Ethanol (Alcohol Denat.)
- MI/MCI preservatives
- Cooling agents: menthol, mint, eucalyptus
Recommended Ingredients
Ceramide (barrier repair), Panthenol (moisturizing and soothing), Madecassoside and Centella (regeneration), Allantoin (calming), Hyaluronic Acid (non-irritating hydration) are the key ingredients for sensitive skin.
Routine Example
Morning: Lukewarm water rinse → Ceramide essence → Moisturizer → Physical sunscreen (zinc oxide/titanium dioxide)
Evening: Mild pH-balanced cleanser → Soothing toner (Centella/Madecassoside) → Ceramide cream → Squalane occlusive seal
